Prince Surprises Fans With Kendrick Lamar Collab
Kendrick Lamar hit the stage during Prince’s set at the album release party for Art Official Age and 3RDEYEGIRL’s (Prince’s all-female band) PLECTRUMELECTRUM
The event, which aired on Yahoo Live stream also featured a behind-the-scenes look at the Paisley Park Studio, home to a lot of Prince’s work.
Yahoo users got a tour of the 65,000 square foot space and listened to snippets of new music with host Maya.
Singing a verse to the track “What’s My Name” during the onstage set, Lamar fueled fan rumors of the duo possibly collaborating on new material. The original track is supposedly from a rare 1998 Prince box set.
Kendrick talked about the experience in an interview with Exclaim! Canada:
”We rocked out on stage, man,” says Lamar. “We had fun and what you see was exactly what it was, man. It was just a legendary moment y’know for my career, y’know just to be on stage with a guy of that type of magnitude.”
